Youth Health Survey

Youth Health Survey Working Group:

The purpose of the Youth Health Survey Working Group is to design and support the implementation and evaluation of a youth risk factor surveillance process in the province of Manitoba.This working group also facilitates the distribution and uptake of results from these surveillance activities. The recommendations of the Youth Health Survey Working Group are presented to Partners in Planning for Healthy Living Coordinating Committee.

During 2011, the Youth Health Survey Working Group has been coordinating the development of the survey tool which will be implemented in Manitoba schools in the fall of 2012. In addition to the larger group, the Youth Health Survey Working Group consists of two sub-committees.

Knowledge Exchange Working Group

The Youth Health Survey Knowledge Exchange Working Group facilitates the distribution and uptake of results from the Youth Health surveillance activities.  In this role, they support the development of knowledge exchange tools, sharing of tools between users of the data, provincial knowledge exchange forums and the sharing of success stories.  One of their major accomplishments is the creation of a videotape highlighting how local groups have used data from the Youth Health Survey to improve healthy living in their communities.

Tools and Methods Working Group

The Youth Health Survey Tools and Methods Working Group oversees the development of survey tools and methodology for the 2012 Youth Health Survey.  With the input from Expert Working Groups a revised survey tool has been developed for the 2012 Youth Health Survey and numerous discussions and decisions have been taking place regarding the methodologies to be implemented for this cycle of the survey.
